Motion Behaviours of Metal Particle around SFGM Spacer under Non-uniform Electric Field

The existence of metal particles will reduce the insulation reliability of the superconducting gas insulated transmission line (S-GIL) and threaten the operational safety of power transmission systems. In this paper, the novel concept of SFGM spacer is proposed to regulate the electric field distribution. Based on a simplified model of the S-GIL with different epoxy spacers, the electric field distribution was investigated, and the influence of the non-uniform electric field on the motion behaviors of particles are analyzed in this paper. The results show that the novel SFGM spacer, which has an effect on electric field optimization can reduce the accumulation of conducting particles on the spacer surface.
