A design method for a frequency hopping signal detection system was proposed to meet the detection needs of frequency hopping signals. The design scheme was implemented in a hardware architecture based on field programmable gate array (FPGA) and digital signal processor (DSP). The system is capable of real-time detection of frequency hopping signals with a bandwidth of 60MHz and a hopping rate of less than 500 hops/s. The signal is analyzed in the time-frequency domain using short-time Fourier transform, and a power threshold is selected for noise reduction. Connected component labeling is used for signal selection. The overall design structure and key module design method of the system are presented in this paper, and the feasibility and effectiveness of the system are validated through experiments. The hardware implementation results show that the system can achieve detection of frequency hopping signals across a wide frequency band.
