Interleaved converters have gained significant attention in electric vehicle (EV) powertrains due to their inherent advantages in enhancing efficiency, reducing current ripple, and improving power density. This paper presents an effective current balancing technique for the case of multi‐phase interleaved converters for electric vehicle applications. The increasing demand for high power density and improved energy efficiency in EVs has propelled the adoption of interleaved converters as an essential component in power electronics. In this research, a current balance control for a dual‐phase interleaved boost converter is designed, which is effective in both continuous current mode (CCM) and discontinuous current mode (DCM) due to the use of sensing transistors and an additional offset‐canceling circuit. Each phase features a comparator to accommodate applications with a wide duty ratio range. To sense and compare the inductor currents of each phase, a transistor current‐sensing circuit and a current‐balance circuit are used. The designed control architecture is able to track the inductor current perfectly as it is one of the goals of the proposed strategy and is very important for the converter operation in this dual‐phase topology. The proposed control technique is verified in the simulation environment and then proved through hardware implementation.
