In April 2023, the American Urological Association (AUA) and the Society of Urologic Oncology (SUO) released its latest version of a guideline regarding the early detection of prostate cancer. The guideline has subsequently formed the basis for two publications in the Journal of Urology and was based upon evidence from between January 2000 and November 2022. The authors made a total of 35 recommendations which are subdivided into four broad areas dealing with PSA screening (11 recommendations), initial biopsy (seven recommendations), repeat biopsy (14 recommendations) and biopsy technique (three recommendations).
