This paper investigates the cost recovery mechanisms within the closed-loop supply chain of new energy systems by incorporating eco-design strategies and the dynamics of power markets. A theoretical framework is constructed to model the interactions between electric vehicle manufacturers and battery producers under three distinct eco-design modes: independent design by each party and collaborative design. Based on game-theoretical analysis, the study derives optimal decision-making strategies for supply chain members under each mode. The results show that eco-design levels, recycling rates, and enterprise profits are significantly influenced by the eco-design cost coefficient. While battery wholesale and vehicle retail prices are affected by the level of eco-design investment, the recycling price of used batteries remains invariant across design modes and is instead positively correlated with the proportion of batteries suitable for remanufacturing. Furthermore, in collaborative design scenarios, upstream firms tend to transfer eco-design costs downstream, yet the overall performance of the supply chain in terms of eco-efficiency, recycling effectiveness, and profit distribution improves. The study also extends to policy implications by proposing differentiated regional cost recovery support mechanisms based on local resource endowments and economic development levels. These findings offer theoretical insights for optimizing cost recovery strategies in the new energy sector a...
