To address the urgent requirements for high tracking accuracy, strong antidisturbance capability, and satisfactory ability to handle internal uncertainty in photoelectric tracking system (PTS), in this paper, a novel improved fractional‐order active disturbance rejection control strategy (FOPDFOESO) is proposed. Specifically, the fractional‐order extended state observer (FOESO) estimates and suppresses total disturbances, including both internal dynamics and external perturbations, and converts the complex vessel‐mounted photoelectric tracking plant into a simple cascaded fractional‐order integrator. The fractional‐order proportional‐derivative (FOPD) controller is developed to achieve fast angle tracking with small overshoot, even in the presence of external disturbances and internal uncertainty. Considering the inevitable existence of random high‐frequency noise in practical engineering, a typical Kalman filter (KF) is employed in the feedback loop. This effectively attenuates the adverse impact of the high‐frequency noise on the system. Furthermore, a comprehensive strategy for adjusting the controller parameters to meet both time‐domain and frequency‐domain specifications is proposed. Additionally, the stability analysis of the proposed control strategy is presented via the eigenvalue analysis of fractional‐order polynomials. Finally, a series of numerical simulations and real‐world experiments are conducted to demonstrate that the proposed control strategy can achieve ...
