Virtual-Signal-Injection Based Dual-Plane MTPA Control for Five-Phase PMSM

This paper presents a dual-plane maximum torque per ampere (DP-MTPA) control method for five-phase interior permanent magnet synchronous machine (FP-IPMSM) with third back EMF based on virtual signal injection to obtain the overall maximum torque output. The basic concept of this method is to accurately control the torque and reluctance components in harmonic current, known as MTPA control, alongside the MTPA control in fundamental current, forming this dual-plane MTPA control method. The theoretical derivation shows that this method can obtain the MTPA operation of two planes simultaneously and individually without coupling between fundamental and third harmonic planes. MATLAB/Simulink simulation software is used to verily the effectiveness of DP-MTPA control.
