ABSTRACT Graphite remains the most widely used commercial anode material for lithium‐ion batteries, but its performance is constrained by inherent drawbacks such as limited rate capability, low reversible capacity, and sluggish electrochemical kinetics. Although numerous titanium‐based oxides have been investigated as alternatives, none have successfully achieved an optimal balance of capacity, rate performance, and cycling stability. In this study, we design and synthesize lithium yttrium titanate LiYTiO 4 (LYTO) as a novel anode material using a sol–gel process combined with ion exchange. When tested as an anode, LYTO demonstrates a moderate operating potential of approximately 0.3 V versus Li + /Li, delivering a reversible capacity of 200 mA h g −1 at 0.1C with excellent cycling stability. It also exhibits outstanding rate capability, maintaining 95 mA h g −1 at 5C and 45 mA h g −1 at 30C. Structural and electrochemical analysis confirmed that LYTO possesses remarkable structural stability, showing negligible lattice variation during cycling, along with rapid Li + diffusion within its layered framework. These attributes position LYTO as a highly competitive candidate and highlight a promising pathway for the development of advanced commercial anode materials for high‐performance lithium‐ion batteries.
