In this study, the complete mitochondrial genome of Sphaeramia nematoptera (Bleeker, 1856) was sequenced and characterized for the first time. The 16,563 bp circular mitogenome encompasses 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNAs, two rRNAs, and one control region. Its nucleotide composition is 27.0% A, 25.4% T, 30.5% C, and 17.1% G, indicating an AT bias of 52.4%. Phylogenetic analysis confirms that S. nematoptera forms a well-supported monophyletic lineage with maximum (100%) bootstrap support. This study contributes valuable molecular resources for resolving the phylogenetic relationships within the Apogonidae.
