Alleviating Effects of Diethyl Aminoethyl Hexanoate (DA-6) Seed Soaking on Melon (Cucumis melo L.) Seed Germination under Salt Stress

This study simulated a salt stress environment using NaCl stress to investigate the regulatory effects of different concentrations of diethyl aminoethyl hexanoate (DA-6) seed soaking treatments on seed germination and physiological characteristics of ‘Baishami’ muskmelon. The experiment included a blank control group and four DA-6 concentration treatment groups (0.5, 1, 1.5, and 2 mmol/L). By measuring germination parameters, peroxidase (POD) activity, catalase (CAT) activity, and malondialdehyde (MDA) content changes, the alleviative effects of DA-6 on salt stress were systematically analyzed. Results demonstrated that DA-6 seed soaking significantly improved seed germination characteristics under salt stress. The 0.5-mmol/L treatment group showed a 21.28% increase in germination rate and 148.81% enhancement in germination potential compared with the control, with treatment efficacy exhibiting an initial increase followed by a decrease and eventual stabilization as concentrations rose. Physiological analysis revealed that compared with the salt-stressed control group (T0), the 0.5 mmol/L DA-6 treatment group (T1) increased CAT and POD activities by 41.5% and 44.3% respectively, while significantly inhibiting MDA accumulation by 38.78%. The 0.5-mmol/L DA-6 concentration demonstrated significantly superior enzyme activation effects compared with higher concentration groups (T2-T4).
