Code and data to reproduce analyses from "Accelerating biomass loss from forest disturbances across Europe" All R code used for the analyses is provided in the folder lib. Intermediate datasets are provided as zip archives in the subdirectories of data and should be unpacked directly in their location for re-creating the analyses. To carry out the analysis steps, the code should be run in the provided order in lib. Please note that some code requires parallel processing to achieve reasonable processing times. For model fitting (lib/06_sensitivity_analysis.R) a BLAS/OpenBLAS installation is needed. Datasets Maps of tree cover loss for Europe from European Forest Disturbance Atlas, version 2.1.1 (Viana-Soto & Senf 2024) are provided as zip archives in data/01_data_tree_cover_loss Licence: CC BY 4.0. Aggregated area of tree cover loss and agent of tree cover loss provided as zip archive in data/02_aggregation_area Aboveground biomass density (AGBD) maps for Europe (Liu et al. 2023) need to be downloaded into data/planet_agbd. Aggregated AGBD values relative to time since tree cover loss are provided as zip archive in data/03_aggregation_agbd. Aggregated data are provided with permission from the original authors.
