Evolutionary history drives organ-specific variability in plant non-structural carbohydrates

We compiled an extensive global database of field observations on non-structural carbohydrate (NSC) concentrations, including total NSC, soluble sugars and starch in terrestrial plants during the growing season. We conducted a search in two major web-based platforms: Web of Science (WOS) and Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) on 11 October, 2023. The final compiled database consists of totally 29,386 measurements including 9,960 observations of total NSC, 10,312 observations of soluble sugars and 9,213 observations of starch from 1,016 sites.
