Visible-Light-Mediated Multicomponent Synthesis of Azido-Substituted gem -Difluoroalkenes

Herein, a photocatalytic strategy for the synthesis of gem -difluoroalkenes by the multicomponent cascade reaction of α-trifluoromethyl alkenes with alkenes and TMSN 3 is described. This operationally simple protocol provides a powerful strategy to introduce azido fragments into gem -difluoroalkenes, enriching the current library of gem -difluoroalkenes for drug discovery. A gram-scale synthesis and synthetic applications demonstrate the potential application of this methodology in the synthesis of diverse medicinally relevant compounds.
