Cytheropteron sp. 1 Remarks. Unidentified species of genus Cytheropteron Sars, 1866. Similar to some Cytheropteron species typically known from shallow waters (Jones et al. 1999; Didié and Bauch 2000; Stepanova et al. 2004; Yasuhara and Okahashi 2014), hence we consider it an allochthonous contaminant in our deep-sea core layers. Occurrence exclusively interglacial, with one specimen recovered from an MIS 13 sample (at 497.2 ka), and one from an MIS 15 sample (at 568.7 ka).
