This record contains the analysis code for the study Safely managed drinking water service use and child diarrhoea based on evidence from 24 countries, accepted for publication in Nature Water by Greenwood et al. (2026). The repository includes code for the primary analysis examining the association between household use of safely managed drinking water services (SMDWS) and caregiver-reported childhood diarrhoea, measured as two-week period prevalence, across 24 low- and middle-income countries. It also includes code for secondary analyses investigating the four criteria used to define SMDWS: (1) use of an improved drinking water source, (2) accessibility on premises, (3) availability when needed, and (4) freedom from faecal contamination at the point of collection, defined by the absence of Escherichia coli in a 100 mL drinking water sample. Additional sub-analyses assess whether climate zone and heavy rainfall following a dry period modify the association between SMDWS and childhood diarrhoea. Further information on repository and instructions for use is provided in the README file.
