Key Points This case presentation reviews the appropriate identification and management of patients with complex, polysubstance use, and potential infection. Withdrawal signs and symptoms may be confused with infection, and appropriate antimicrobial stewardship should be exercised in this high‐risk patient population. Polysubstance withdrawal is complex and should be managed with multimodal therapy with selection dependent on patient‐specific factors and other pharmacotherapy. Interprofessional teams play a key role in the management of patients with complex, polysubstance use disorders and potential infection.
