This is a Position Statement of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSANZ). Its development was initiated and co-chaired by Professor Sally Inglis, Adjunct Associate Professor Carolyn Astley, and Ms Carmel Bourne, representing CSANZ (S.C.I.) and the Australian Cardiovascular Health and Rehabilitation Association (ACRA) (C.A., C.B.). The writing of this document was initiated in May 2022, endorsed by the CSANZ on 14 August 2025 and is due for review and update in August 2030. Content has undergone external consultation and/or peer review.
