Abstract: The Career Adapt-Abilities Scale (CAAS) is the most popular measure for assessing career adaptability. However, its internal consistency reliability estimates vary across studies and contexts. We conducted a reliability generalization meta-analysis included 400 studies ( N = 224,729) to estimate the average Cronbach’s alpha coefficients for the CAAS and its four subscales. Additionally, moderator analyses were conducted to examine the study characteristics that may have affected the alpha coefficients. The results indicated that the mean alpha coefficients of the CAAS total and subscale scores were good, ranging from .833 (control subscale) to .935 (total score). Moderator analyses indicated that the alpha coefficients for the total scale increased with sample size and the standard deviation of test scores. The alpha coefficients for the subscales increased with age and the standard deviation of test scores. Country affected the alpha coefficients of the total scale and subscale scores. In addition, the concern, control, and curiosity subscales exhibited lower alpha coefficients among middle school students. Based on these findings, we offer recommendations for the use and refinement of the CAAS.
