The supported V 2 O 5 –CeO 2 /TiO 2 catalysts were prepared using anatase TiO 2 with preferentially exposed different facets as supports. The evaluation results of SCR reaction performance indicate that CeO 2 exerts a promoting effect on the catalytic activity of supported V 2 O 5 –CeO 2 /TiO 2 catalysts with supports of preferentially exposed different facets. However, the mechanism of this promoting effect varies with the preferentially exposed facets of the supports. The NO conversion and N 2 selectivity of the V 2 O 5 –CeO 2 /TiO 2 catalysts with supports of preferentially exposed different facets follow the order: V 2 O 5 –CeO 2 /TiO 2 –NP{101} > V 2 O 5 –CeO 2 /TiO 2 –NL{111} > V 2 O 5 –CeO 2 /TiO 2 –NS{001}. Characterization results of the catalysts’ surface acidity and redox property show that CeO 2 interacts with the active component V 2 O 5 through the bonding of O–Ce 4+ –O–V 5+ –O. This interaction not only reduces the acid strength of V 5+ –OH in B acid centers but also enhances the reducibility of V 5+ ions, thereby improving the SCR reaction performance of catalysts. It was revealed that the facet effect of TiO 2 supports originates from the different densities of cation vacancy sites on the support surface. The cation vacancy site densities of anatase TiO 2 with {101}, {111}, and {001} facets are 1.7, 1.2, and 1.1 mmol/100 m 2 TiO 2, respectively. The TiO 2 support with preferentially exposed {101} facets exhibits the highest vacancy site density. Consequently,...
