Abstract The use of known metal compound n-doped transport layers to achieve highefficiency and luminescence plays a crucial role in displays. Since significant efficiencyroll-off is commonly observed in OLEDs as the brightness increases, leading to a decreaseinefficiency. In this paper, we propose a novel full consideration of brightness and efficiency, theobjective functions L*CE (Luminescence×Current efficiency) or L*PE (Luminescence×Power efficiency) are taken as performance parameters for analysis. The maximumobjectivefunctions L*CE or L*PE, their corresponding luminescence, and efficiency of performance aredetermined. Balancing brightness and efficiency is presented. Further, the target functions withL*CE n or L*PE n is established, in which existing a maximum value that varies with n, n represents the weight of efficiency in device applications are taken into account. As n increases, the required operating voltage of the applied device decreases, that is to say, the OLEDs canproduce the best results when operating in this condition, when we do not concentrate toomuch on considering the luminescence or efficiency.
