Due to high specific capacity and low lithiation potential, Si materials are considered to be one of the most promising candidates for commercialization as anode materials in lithium-ion batteries. However, during charge–discharge cycles, the cycling stability of lithium-ion batteries is adversely affected by the significant volume change of the Si anode. The charge–discharge mechanism and failure mechanism of the Si anode were systematically analyzed in this paper. And the research is conducted from three perspectives: structural design, binder optimization, and electrolyte improvement. Additionally, current challenges and future development directions are exhibited.
