Background: There is no reliable test to monitor for ITx rejection. Reg3A is an anti-inflammatory protein constitutively expressed in the intestine and upregulated by injurious stimuli. Prior studies have established Reg3A as biomarker in IBD and GI GVHD. Until recently, Reg3A has never been studied in ITx. In a prior retrospective cohort study, we found that secretory Reg3A levels were significantly increased during episodes of rejection. We sought to expand upon those results.
