The landscape and conjuncture of the land rush in the Colombian Amazon: failed and pin-prick land deals

I argue that by using the concept of the ‘land rush’, I am able to bring into the analysis two more categories of land deals in addition to corporate large-scale operational land deals, namely, non-operational or failed corporate land deals, as well as the everyday pin prick land accumulation. Furthermore, these three categories are relational, and can be understood only when examined as such. Looking at the case of the Colombian Amazon, methodologically, I used a landscape and conjunctural analysis to understand the phenomenon as such, and how its parts unfolded unevenly. The result is a better understanding of each of the distinct cases and at the same time a better grasp of the overall phenomenon itself.
