TiAl alloy, as known for its low density and high-temperature strength, contributes significantly to enhance the thrust-to-weight ratio and improve fuel economy. However, its broader application is limited by insufficient strength, creep resistance and oxidation resistance at elevated temperatures. Ceramic particles, leveraging their inherent high melting points, exceptional hardness, and superior Young's modulus, demonstrate transformative potential in comprehensively upgrading the high-temperature performance of TiAl alloys. Recent investigations have demonstrated that ceramic particle-reinforced TiAl matrix composites possess excellent overall performance. A comprehensive overview is provided in this paper on recent developments regarding the elevated-temperature properties of ceramic particle-reinforced TiAl composites, focusing on: ceramic/TiAl matrix interfaces, effect of ceramic particles on the microstructure, high-temperature strength and ductility, creep behavior, and oxidation resistance behavior. Finally, the limitations faced by ceramic particle reinforced TiAl composites and their future development directions were summarized. The work aims to provide references for developing high-performance lightweight TiAl composites.
