Using [Formula: see text]-cyclodextrin, melamine and cyanuric acid as raw materials, N-doped porous carbon nitride nanosheets (PCN) were prepared by high temperature calcination method, and then hydrothermally synthesized with cerium-doped bismuth vanadate (Ce-BVO) to obtain carbon nitride and bismuth vanadate composite photocatalyst. The composite photocatalyst formed by PCN and Ce-BVO can promote the photocatalytic reaction because the electrons excited from VB to CB by visible-light photons. The photogenerated electrons of CB from carbon nitride can be transferred to the surface of carbon nitride, and the photogenerated holes in Ce-BVO VB can be transferred to PCN VB. Therefore, the recombination process between electrons and holes is reduced, and Ce-BVO and PCN precursors can provide more contact area to improve photocatalytic activity. The best sample PCN/Ce-BVO-10% has the highest hydrogen production rate, reaching [Formula: see text]. In addition, the degradation rate of 2-Mercaptobenzothiazol (MBT) by PCN/Ce-BVO-10% reached 93% within 30[Formula: see text]min, which was much higher than that of other samples.
