Ru/Ni3S2/NiFe LDH with Multiple Heterogeneous Interfaces as Active Electrocatalyst for Boosted Hydrogen Evolution Reaction

The rational design of HER catalysts is fundamentally important for the promotion of hydrogen by water electrolysis. The heterostructured catalyst Ru/Ni 3 S 2 /NiFe LDH-NF is prepared by hydrothermal and electrodeposition methods. The catalyst shows impressive HER performance (−164 mV vs RHE@100 mA·cm –2 ). The interfacial interaction between the multiphases and the introduction of Ru active sites contributed to the improvement of the HER property. The assembled Ru/Ni 3 S 2 /NiFe LDH-NF||Ni 3 S 2 /NiFe LDH-NF for glycerol-assisted hydrogen production demands only 1.49 V to enable a current density of 100 mA·cm –2, with formate yield and selectivity as high as 90.4% and 94.1%, respectively. This work provides a highly dispersed metallic Ru deposite on Ni 3 S 2 /NiFe LDH-NF by electrodeposition to improve HER properties.
