Pains in the neck and back are part and parcel of everyday life for hundreds of millions of people across the world, and is usually due to neglectful ergonomic postures for a prolonged period, specifically in people who spend long hours at a desk. This has led us to the design of a Wearable Posture Detection and Alerting System, a device aimed at monitoring and correcting the undesirable flexion of spine and neck. The system utilizes strategically placed flex sensors capable of measuring posture to an ideal posture angle. The device vibrates and displays an alert on an LCD screen when poor posture, like slouching or forward bending, is recognized. This system provides a medium to correct posture before experiencing musculoskeletal problems. The device is lightweight, affordable, and easy to use, allowing people of all ages to make use of it. By encouraging integration of the device into normal everyday life, the system aims to foster good posture habits and reduce the chances of developing neck and back pain as well as promote overall better health.
