The purpose of this research is to analyze the economic burden and associated factors of pertussis in specific areas within Zhejiang Province. Additionally, we aim to identify the key factors that impact total expenses and provide evidence to guide vaccination strategies, thereby curbing the escalating prevalence of pertussis. This study conducted a survey and hospital medical records review to investigate the direct economic burden(healthcare costs) and indirect economic burden (non-healthcare costs) on patients' families, as well as a summary utility index value. The questionnaire was designed to incorporate the European Quality of Life-5 Dimensions (EQ-5D) and health utility values were calculated using the Chinese health utility value scoring system. Logistic regression analysis was employed to identify potential factors that may influence these costs. The study surveyed a total of 458 cases of pertussis. Among them, the average direct cost, average indirect cost, and average total cost of outpatient treatment were 728.36 CNY, 1163.86 CNY, and 1892.22 CNY, respectively, with a total of 331,138.48 CNY. The average direct cost, average indirect cost, and average total cost of inpatient treatment were 8,814.32 CNY, 1,483.53 CNY, and 10,297.85 CNY, respectively, with a total of 29,142,91.84 CNY. The direct economic burden, indirect economic burden, and total economic burden of pertussis cases reported in Zhejiang province is expected to reach 21.5259 million, 5.1191 million, ...
