Abstract Recent developments in wound care have led to an increasing demand for dressings that can provide an optimal wound regeneration environment. While traditional dressings have exhibited significant difficulties in this regard, hydrogel‐based dressings have shown promise in achieving desirable therapeutic outcosmes. Polysaccharides have become increasingly popular as natural polymers for biomedical applications and have even been clinically applied. Polysaccharide hydrogels, due to their abundant source, good biodegradability, biological properties, and ease of functionalization, have emerged as strong candidates for wound dressing platforms. However, the creation of hydrogel dressings with adequate mechanical stability has proved challenging. One proposed solution is to use Schiff base cross linkages to create stable hydrogels. Herein, we delve into the progress achieved in Schiff base cross‐linkages of polysaccharide hydrogels as modern dressings for wound therapy, focusing on their multifunctional potential, including bioadhesive, self‐healing, stimuli‐responsive, and antibacterial properties.
