Performance Analysis of Low Orbit Satellite Communication Based on OFDM

The advent of digital signal processing technology has led to the gradual resolution of the challenges associated with the application of OFDM technology in satellite communication. This development has paved the way for the practical implementation of this technology in the domain of low-orbit satellite communication. The satellite-earth communication scenario is distinguished by its unique application characteristics, which differ from those of terrestrial mobile communication environments. In this paper, a complete transceiver system model and four representative channel models of low-orbit satellite-earth communication scenarios are established for the application of OFDM system in the field of low-orbit satellite communication. Through Monte Carlo experiments, the performance of OFDM signals in the four typical scenarios is analyzed by taking the BER gain as the evaluation index, and the effects of modulation mapping method, pilot tones insertion method and channel equalization on the system performance are further discussed. The experimental results show that the satellite-earth communication channel type determines the upper limit of the communication performance, and the critical impacts of the transceiver's processing methods vary in different channel scenarios. The experimental conclusions and analyses provide certain design references and guiding bases for the study of transmission reliability of low-orbit satellite communication systems.
