TemCompanion: An open-source multi-platform GUI program for TEM image processing and analysis

TemCompanion is a user-friendly software tool designed to facilitate the processing and analysis of transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images, offering both streamlined functionality and advanced analytical capabilities. Compatible with any platform that supports Python, and specifically compiled for Windows x64 and macOS (the two major platforms), TemCompanion ensures broad accessibility for researchers. The software accepts a wide range of commonly used data formats, minimizing the need for data conversion and expediting the workflow. Its intuitive interface includes interactive tools for essential image processing tasks such as cropping, rotating, measuring, filtering, and Fourier transforming, alongside advanced features like stack alignment with sub-pixel accuracy, geometric phase analysis (GPA) for strain mapping, and differential phase contrast (DPC) reconstruction for linear phase-contrast imaging. These comprehensive capabilities enable precise and detailed exploration of TEM data, making TemCompanion an important resource in both academic and industrial research environments. By facilitating high-throughput data processing and increasing the reliability of quantitative analyses, TemCompanion offers a meaningful step forward in TEM image processing and analysis.
