Arctic populations experience extreme photoperiod changes, potentially leading to differential circadian entrainment strategies between Native (N) and Non-Native (NN) residents. This longitudinal study investigated the coupling between blue light exposure (BLE) and physical activity (PA) rhythms in 63 Arctic residents across winter solstice (WS), spring equinox (SE), and summer solstice (SS) using actigraphy with RGB light sensors. Circadian patterns were quantified via acrophase and M10 Onset. BLE and PA acrophase coupling was significantly (Δr = 0.426, Fisher’s z = 2.99, p = 0.003) stronger in NN (r = 0.606, p < 0.0001) compared to N (r = 0.180, p = 0.205). Coupling in N was evident only during WS (r = 0.671, p = 0.002), while NN residents exhibited strong coupling year-round. Solstice-related BLE phase delays correlated with PA delays only in NN residents. These findings suggest divergent reliance on light for circadian alignment reflecting distinct adaptive strategies to extreme Arctic seasonal light variations, highlighting the importance of population-specific considerations in Arctic health interventions.
