To the Editor: In the HELIOS-B trial, Fontana et al. (Jan. 2 issue) 1 showed the efficacy of vutrisiran in reducing the risk of death and cardiovascular events in transthyretin amyloidosis with cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM). However, they insufficiently explored kidney function, a possible determinant of prognosis in ATTR-CM. 2 Almost one third of patients with ATTR-CM will have a decline in kidney function, 2-4 and recent studies highlight the possibility of specific kidney involvement in hereditary ATTR amyloidosis. 4,5 Yet, baseline renal status was limited to estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) and creatinine, with no stratification according to chronic kidney disease stages or proteinuria status.
