Integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) transforms agriculture through data-driven intelligent systems. Implementation of AIoT in the field of agriculture ensures food security, resource optimization, and solutions to the problem of labor shortages. This chapter presents the practical architecture and a detailed design procedure to develop robust and scalable systems. The architecture components are examined, including sensors, edge devices, communication infrastructure, and cloud analytics. An AIoT-enabled automated cultivation system for Agaricus bisporus mushroom farming is analyzed to demonstrate real-world application. The proposed system monitors and controls physical parameters such as moisture, light, and temperature; promises a good yield with less investment; and enables the farmer to continue the cultivation of the crop in any season. Wider applications in agriculture include irrigation management, weather monitoring, plant disease detection, production process automation, and precision agriculture. They can also use AIoT with simple modifications in their design. Challenges and issues that arise during the implementation and usage due to diverse regional conditions integrating disparate data sources and education to promote adoption are analyzed in detail in the chapter. Economic analysis on various aspects quantifies the benefits of AIoT through increased yields, reduced waste, and optimization of resources. The chapter provides ...
