The role of structural defects in the fluoride-mediated synthesis of aluminosilicate zeolites

Defect microstructure type and quantity play a structure-directing role in synthesis of aluminosilicate zeolites under fluoride conditions. Defect formation is entropic in nature due to limited mobility of framework Al atoms and encapsulated F − ions.
