Optimizing Predictive Models for Postoperative Shoulder Stiffness: Implications for Clinical Management and Rehabilitation Strategies

We recently read with great interest the article titled “Global Fatty Degeneration Index on Preoperative Magnetic Resonance Imaging Predicts Early Postoperative Shoulder Stiffness at 3 Months Following Primary Rotator Cuff Repair.”1 The study offers valuable insights into the predictors of postoperative shoulder stiffness (POSS), especially the role of diabetes mellitus (DM), body mass index (BMI), and the global fatty degeneration index (GFDI). However, we would like to respectfully highlight several clinical concerns and limitations that were not fully addressed in the Discussion section.
