Newly discovered cubic Li-excess spinel (LxS) structured LiMn 0.5 Ni 0.5 O 2 cathode shows unique temperature-dependent topotactic phase transformation between 400–900 °C, affecting Li ion diffusion pathways and electrochemical performance.
