Characterization of Dimerized Plasmonic Grating for Reflective Electro-Optic Modulator

We propose a surface-normal modulator using a dimerized plasmonic grating-based resonator embedded with electro-optic polymer. Efficient modulation with >20 dB extinction ratio is demonstrated numerically with < 1-µm-thick device. Designed structures are fabricated to demonstrate continuous tuning of the Q factor by tuning the perturbation.
