Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) presents a diverse socioeconomic and cultural landscape, with unique nutritional challenges impacting health. School-aged children are particularly vulnerable, facing both undernutrition and the growing problem of overweight and obesity. School Meal Programs (SMP) are vital interventions to tackle these issues. This commentary explores into LAC's school lunch programs, addressing the region's nutritional challenges, discussing hurdles, and proposing innovative solutions to rethink SMPs (Fig. 1).
