The deteriorating effect of the cutting process on the magnetic properties of electrical steel is well recognized. However, more studies have focused on the effect of different cutting techniques on a single electrical steel material. Electrical steel also exhibits different magnetic properties depending on its Si content. Therefore, more research is needed to gain insight into the interactions between two commonly used processes, Wire Electrical Discharge Machining (WEDM) and laser cutting, and electrical steels with different Si contents. In this paper, the effects of WEDM and laser cutting on the magnetic properties of three kinds of non-oriented electrical steels with different Si contents are investigated. At the same time, the trend of the deterioration of the magnetic properties of 6.5% Si with different cutting area share under the 2 cutting methods is explored. Finally, the article explains in detail the reasons why the magnetic properties of electrical steel are differently affected by the cutting methods from the grain point of view, and separates and analyzes the electrical steel losses affected by cutting.
