A wideband dual-polarized planar phased antenna array with an ultralow profile is proposed in this letter. Under the stringent restriction of a low profile of 0.04λc(wavelength at the center frequency), the array is inevitably challenged by a significant impedance mismatch when large scanning angles are desired. By integrating the open stubs and extended metal strips into the feeding networks, the strong current imbalance is mitigated, thereby achieving wideband and wide-angle scanning application. Finally, an impedance bandwidth of 2–2.9 GHz with the active voltage standing-wave ratio nearly less than 3 is achieved when the steering angle is up to ±60° in both E- and H-planes. A 5 × 5 array prototype is fabricated and measured to validate the effectiveness of the proposed design.
