Successful Treatment of SAM Syndrome with Secukinumab Monotherapy: A Case Report of a 16-Month-Old Infant

Abstract: Severe dermatitis, multiple allergies, and metabolic wasting (SAM) syndrome is a rare congenital skin disease. We report on a 16-month-old infant presenting with severe disseminated dermatitis, characterized by erythema and lichenified plaques. The crucial result of de novo missense mutation in the DSP gene (c.1769T>C, p.F590S) discovered by next-generation sequencing finally confirmed the diagnosis of SAM syndrome. The eruptions and skin pruritus significantly improved after a 4-week treatment with secukinumab.
