Flexible Reflective Electrochromic Devices Based on V 2 O 5 -Methyl Cellulose Composite Films

Electrochromic devices show great potential for color switchability and ease of manipulation for reflection tuning. However, the devices’ color fit and cycle stability make it difficult to meet the requirements of functional reflective product applications. Herein, a vanadium pentoxide (V 2 O 5 )–cellulose composite electrochromic film with remarkable cycling stability and a wide range of color options is presented. Flexible reflective electrochromic devices realizing free switching between yellow and blue were successfully assembled by the prepared composite films; in the test, the device possesses a low drive voltage (±1 V) and a rapid switching response time (≤5.6 s) and excellent working status after 1000 cycles. Besides, the assembled devices demonstrated an exceptional range of optical reflection modulation upon excitation. This study presents a direction for the selection of suitable devices in the field of flexible functional materials and broadens the scope of electrochromic applications.
