Review on Strain Localization Phenomena Studied by High‐Resolution Digital Image Correlation

Strain localization phenomena are well known for numerous materials occurring under various loading conditions on different length scales. The digital image correlation (DIC) is a full-field measuring technique which allows to study these phenomena with high lateral and strain resolution. In this review, article number 2001409 by Anja Weidner and Horst Biermann, an overview on developments and applications of DIC is provided and case studies on the application of high-resolution DIC in combination with scanning electron microscopy are presented.
