Fishbone-induced appendicitis in a childTo the editor, Foreign body intake is common in children, especially those under the age of 5. 1 Here we report a case of appendicitis caused by accidental intake of fishbone in child treated by laparoscopic surgery in our hospital.A 4-year-old boy went to the emergency department for abdominal pain.Physical examination indicated that the right abdominal tenderness rebound pain and muscle tension were obvious.Emergency department abdominal color ultrasound indicated that strong echo in the appendix cavity:fishbone?(Fig. 1A).Medical history collection showed that the child had eaten fish a week ago.After admission, the fishbone was removed(Fig.1B and C) and the diseased appendix was removed by emergency operation, and then the child recovered and was discharged smoothly.
