Janus Scattering In article number 2100369 by Xuan Chen, Min Li, Zuojia Wang, and colleagues, broadband Janus scattering for time-reversed channels are realized via twisting electric dipoles. The performance on phase modulation can be significantly improved in tilted systems. Two devices are designed. Designer Janus phase retarders show asymmetric phase modulation over a broad spectrum protected by reciprocity. Janus backscattering mirrors retroreflect incident waves for one side while showing transparency in the time-reversed reflection channel.
