Current-Ripple-Free Folating Interleaved Boost Converter for Fuel Cell Applications

Large high frequency current ripple will reduce the lifespan of fuel cell and it is desirable to have low input current ripple for fuel cell system. This paper proposes a current-ripple-free floating interleaved Boost converter (FIBC) for fuel cell applications. A pair of ripple cancellation network consists of a small inductor and a small capacitor are added to conventional FIBC which is utilized to obtain zero-ripple input current. Meanwhile the proposed converter shares the same merits such as high voltage gain and low device stress of the conventional FIBC. Then, the operation principle and steady-state performance of the converter are conducted. Finally, the proposed converter is validated in the MATLAB/Simulink. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed can remove the input current ripple completely namely achieving current-ripple-free.
