The super elastic strain sealing technology and material for tubing and casing connection in natural gas well

In view of the leakage of the oil tubing and casing connections in high temperature and high pressure natural gas well, this paper first summarized the important results of the research on the sealing method and leakage mechanism. Based on this, a new sealing method and manufacturing method of the tubing and casing connections were designed, the sealing material to implement this method was selected. The sealing test were carried out to verify the validity of this method. It was proposed to increase the elastic strain design on the basis of the sealing surface pressure stress design, so that the sealing surface produces a large enough elastic strain to block the leakage channel produced on the sealing surface of oil casing and tubing. The elastic materials can be used to achieve elastic strain seal design, and a supper elastic alloy Ti-Ni-X was selected. Several elastic strain sealing structures were designed, and a kind of the sealing ring supper-elastic strain sealing casing was produced. In accordance with the standard API RP 5C5 regulations, the casing specimens successfully passed CAL- IV class B series sealing detection.
