Central Asia experiences frequent \n sand and dust storms (SDS), which have been made worse by \n human activity. The main objective of this study is to \n provide an economic analysis of the benefits of \n afforestation of the former Aral Seabed in Uzbekistan. The \n objective of this study is to estimate economic benefits \n attributed to afforestation of the former Aral Seabed in \n Uzbekistan. Proper estimation and categorization of economic \n benefits associated with each scenario of landscape \n restoration enables the Government of Uzbekistan and local \n authorities to allocate limited resources in an efficient \n way, supporting promising rehabilitation techniques and \n practices. Based on wind erosion modeling results, this \n study measures soil retention ecosystem services in the \n former Aral Seabed in Uzbekistan. To understand the value of \n soil retention ecosystem services, several scenarios of \n landscape restoration are considered.
