The New Rural Cooperative Medical Scheme and Self-rated Health of Older People

To examine the assumption whether the reimbursement rate of New Rural Cooperative Medical Scheme (RRN) has a nonlinear and mediated impact on self-rated health)SRH(in Chinese rural older people through endogenous mediating variables such as healthy behaviors .Four waves of data were obtained from the Chinese Family Panel Studies (CFPS). The panel estimator and stepwise regression were used to examine assumptions.SRH and lower RRN has a positive correlation, but is negatively associated with higher RRN.The total mediation effect of the RRN on the SRH of older people through healthy lifestyle is 0.191.There is an inverted U-shaped and a mediated relationship between the RRN and SRH. We suggest preventive care,should be added to the list of health insurance directory.
